Arkansas considers banning videos showing officers killed

(AP) – Arkansas legislators are considering a bill that would
prevent the disclosure of police dashcam video that shows an officer being
killed in the line of duty.
A lawmaker who helped prosecute Jonathan Schmidt's killer says a video of the
officer's death is still making the rounds on the internet and shows up
regularly in his family's social media feeds. Under his bill, a judge could
still order the tape's release if there is a compelling reason for the public to
see it.
The bill passed the Arkansas House 94-0 Monday. The state Senate could vote on
the measure as early as Thursday afternoon.
Schmidt's widow, Andrea, called the video "a very sacred thing" and that
people should know Schmidt was a husband and a father.
