DeBriyn speaks at McClain Park ribbon cutting

The opening ceremony of Mountain Home High School’s new baseball/softball complex was held Tuesday with a special guest in attendance. Former Arkansas Razorback head baseball coach Norm DeBriyn was the guest speaker before the ribbon was cut at McClain Park.

DeBriyn says he is impressed not only with the new facility, but also with the community support behind it.

DeBriyn was the head coach at Arkansas from 1970 to 2002. Under his direction, the Hogs were 1,161-650-6, went to 15 NCAA Tournaments and four College World Series and finished as national runners-up in 1979. DeBriyn had recruited in Mountain Home during his tenure at Arkansas, and he says it’s a testament to the love the community has for baseball.

Currently DeBriyn spends much of his time in ministry. Since 2012, he has served as a deacon at St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish in Fayetteville.
