Judge orders imprisoned Arkansas doctor's guns to be sold

(AP) – A federal judge says all proceeds from an imprisoned
doctor's high-end gun collection will be given to a man severely injured by the
2009 explosion that sent the doctor to prison.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports the order Tuesday from Chief U.S.
District Judge Brian Miller ends a nearly three-year legal fight.
The guns were seized while Dr. Randeep Mann was jailed for a grenade explosion
outside Dr. Trent Pierce's home. Investigators allege Mann targeted Pierce,
then-chairman of Arkansas' Medical Board, as payback for a board investigation
that threatened to revoke Mann's medical license.
Prosecutors wanted the guns destroyed, but Pierce and his wife said proceeds
from selling the 93-gun collection could be used to pay for a civil judgment
Pierce obtained against Mann. The collection's estimated worth is between $1
million and $2 million.
