The Mountain Home High School softball team was victorious in its opener in the Ozark Softball Classic at Harrison. The Lady Bombers defeated Nemo Vista 9-1.
Maleigha Phan picked up the win as she pitched a complete game, struck out four batters and gave up one run on three hits. Offensively for Mountain Home, Maly Tabor had two solo home runs, Morgan Pierski provided an inside-the-park home run, Grace Gilbert and Cierra Williams finished with two base hits apiece, and Chassie Whitlow, Brandee Strain and Courtney Green each added a hit.
Gainesville did not fare well on the softball diamond. The Lady Bulldogs fell to Seymour 16-6.
The Gainesville High School baseball team was able to win its season opener on Friday. The Bulldogs edged out Cabool by a score of 2-1.
