Hot Springs police say a man plotted to have a woman killed following a number of incidents with her and her husband.

The Hot Springs Sentinel-Record reported that 58-year-old Ricky Cleveland Alexander was charged last week with solicitation of first-degree murder. An affidavit says the intended target obtained more than $40,000 from Alexander’s father before his death, in what Alexander says was fraud.

Police say a man told officers Feb. 21 that Alexander was trying to hire him to kill the woman for $10,000. The man told officers that Alexander had reached out to him 14 or 15 times, seeking an answer. Police say the man recorded Alexander discussing logistics.

Court records Monday showed no attorney for Alexander, and a gag order. Alexander has an April 4 court date.
