Daniel Zuchnik/WireImageFounding Pink Floyd drummer and noted car enthusiast Nick Mason was involved in a scary crash during a race of vintage sports cars on Sunday in West Sussex, U.K., but the 73-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer luckily walked away unscathed.

The Daily Mail reports Mason was driving his McLaren F1 GTR in a demonstration lap as part of the 75th Goodwood Members’ Meeting event when the vehicle skidded out and smashed into a wall, damaging its front end.

Mason was fine, but the car, which is valued at three million pounds — around $3.7 million U.S. — had to be towed away. Nick owns an extensive collective of sports and racing cars, and has taken part in many races over the years.

While at the race, Mason was asked by the U.K.’s Channel 4 to comment on the death of rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Chuck Berry.

“He meant a great deal,” said Nick. “He’s one of the great icons of rock ‘n’ roll, and to explain that you should just think about the fact that every guitar player in the United Kingdom can play at least three Chuck Berry numbers. It doesn’t matter if it’s the Beatles, the Stones, Radiohead, whatever, his music has been an influence on all of us for the last 50 years.”

Berry died Saturday at the age of 90.
