Almost $26,000 awarded in Community Foundation reception

Just under $26,000 was awarded Thursday to area non-profits in the Twin Lakes Community Foundation’s annual grant reception.Foundation executive director Gwen Khayat says funds were awarded in three categories beginning with the Giving Tree Grants.

The Stop Hunger Award went to the First United Methodist Church Backpack for Kids program.

Partners in Giving Awards recognizing non-profits for their forethought in planning for the future went to the Twin Lakes Literacy Council, the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Marion County and the United Methodist Women Feeding Children program.

Local non-profits may apply for endowed funding from the Community Foundation during an annual grant cycle from January 10 through February 15. Khayat says these awards support the good work of the non-profits in our community.
