Local Sears store going strong

Mountain Home’s Sears Hometown Store is not impacted by the recent news of store closings from the Sears Holdings Corporation. Local store owner Eden Cowart says she wants to emphasize to the community the Mountain Home location is independently owned and standing alone.Stores like the one in Mountain Home operate under Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores,Incorporated, which separated from Sears Holdings Corporation in October 2012.

Cowart says news from Sears Holdings Corporation about its performance or store closings are in no way a reflection of the health of Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores or the local Sears store.

In a time when numerous brick and mortar businesses are being challenged by online purchasing, Cowart says the local Sears store is not feeling that impact.

Cowart says the local Sears store does coordinate with online purchasing. Customers may shop Sears online and have their purchases shipped to the local store without any freight shipping costs. Even with online orders, the local store will deliver, install and haul away the item being replaced.

Sears Hometown Stores have recently initiated a new Lease It program.
