Chili’s of Mountain Home and Arvest Bank locations in Mountain Home are joining forces Wednesday on an all-day Give Back event to reduce hunger in Baxter County.

On Wednesday, Chili’s will donate 10 percent of every meal ticket made from 10:45 that morning until 10 that evening to the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas.

In order for 10 percent of meal tickets to be donated to the effort, diners must present a Give Back event flier with their meal. Fliers may be picked up at any Arvest Bank location in Mountain Home.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Food Bank’s backpack program, in addition to other hunger relief organizations that also operate a backpack program. These programs provide food for children on weekends and holidays when they are facing food insecurity because they don’t have access to their school meal programs.

Sally Gilbert, market president for Arvest Bank in Mountain Home says the hope is that the Mountain Home community will dine at Chili’s for lunch or dinner on Wednesday. Gilbert said this is an easy way for contributing to the backpack program. She says it is also hoped the event will raise awareness of the problem of food insecurity right here at home.
