The mission of the all volunteer non-profit organization, Marion County Community Services, is to promote the welfare of all people living in Marion County. A goal of the group, according to Marie Thompson, secretary of the organization’s board of directors, is to build a multi-purpose community center. The facility would be available for use by the entire community for recreation, fitness, business promotion, and education and cultural programs.

In an effort to raise funds needed to build the community center, members of Marion County Community Services and their supporters hold fund raising events, including the annual Spring Fling, scheduled Friday and Saturday at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Summit. This is the fourth year for the event done in partnership with the Marion County Fair and Livestock Show board, says Thompson.
