The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Wiggins Battery and the Baxter County Historical Society will gather at the Baxter County Courthouse Saturday morning at 10:00 for the annual Confederate Day Memorial service. The event will take place in the second floor courtroom of the courthouse.
Kevin Bodenhamer, Commander of the 27th Arkansas Infantry Camp 1519, says this years soldier of honor is George Washington Foster. Foster was a soldier in the 27th Arkansas Infantry.
The group will also read the names of the Confederate soldiers buried at the Mountain Home cemetery, along with a short history of actions fought around Mountain Home during the War Between the States.
