Pendergrass says one of the most important things to remember is to not try to pass through a low water bridge if it’s covered with water or any of the creeks on a county road.

One of the areas hardest hit by floods in the past is Lake Norfork, at the confluence of the White River and below the Norfork Dam.

Chrissy McFall, Water and Court Clerk for the City of Norfork, says emergency plans are in place. In case of an emergency, the Norfork City Hall will open and phone lines will be answered by calling 870-499-5225.

Steve Wilson lives 3 miles from the base of the dam and says he’s seen the area flooded in previous years and is making preparations, including removing items from his basement, if the water comes up. He remembers seeing a boat dock float by near his home in the flood of 2008.

For dock hand, Kevin Tucker at Norfork Trout Dock, it’s business as usual.
