Friday schedule includes MH baseball, softball starting conference tourney

Baseball and softball make up the local Friday schedule.

It’s the start of postseason action for the Mountain Home High School baseball team. The Bombers will begin the 6A-East Conference Tournament as they play at Searcy.
Mountain Home comes into the tournament as the number seven seed. The Bombers’ current record is 8-15. Searcy is 14-7 on the season. The Lions are the second-seeded team.
The winner will advance to the semifinals on Tuesday and clinch a spot in the Class 6A State Tournament. The loser will go to the consolation side of the bracket and face elimination.
The first pitch is scheduled for 4:30.

The championship game of the 1A-2 North Conference Tournament will be held at Izard County High School in Brockwell. Viola faces Mammoth Spring at noon.
Elsewhere, Bakersfield hosts Willow Springs, and Dora travels to Houston.

Mountain Home’s softball team will join their baseball counterparts in Searcy. The Lady Bombers will be paired with the Lady Lions to begin the 6A-East Conference Tournament.
Mountain Home is the sixth-seeded team in the tournament. The Lady Bombers bring a mark of 4-13 into the game. Searcy is 8-12. The Lady Lions have home field advantage as the number three seed.
An automatic bid to the Class 6A State Tournament is on the line as the winner also advances to the semifinals. The loser will play an elimination game on Tuesday.
The start time is set for 4:30.

In other high school softball, the 1A-2 North Conference Tournament will come to an end at Izard County High School in Brockwell. Viola and Calico Rock will play for the title at noon.
