Potential for severe weather through the weekend


Chances for rain and severe weather increase throughout the Twin Lakes Area Friday as storms build momentum. We’ll have a 50 percent chance of rain increasing to an 80 percent chance Friday night with an average rainfall of one to two inches.A flash flood watch is in effect for all of north central Arkansas and southern Missouri from Friday night through Sunday evening.Meteorologist from the National Weather Service in Little Rock, Marty Trexler, has an overview of what to expect.

Trexler says as we move into the weekend the frontal boundary stays across the area as upper level systems move across the state and will bring repeated periods of rainfall, predicted to be heavy at times.

The system should move south of the area late Sunday evening however, Trexler says there will still be the potential for flash flooding.

The lake level as of 5:00 Friday morning at Bull Shoals is 665.17, 6.2 feet above normal pool, with a top flood elevation of 659. Lake Norfork’s lake level is 560.41, 6.7 feet above normal pool, with a top flood elevation of 580.
