After a rain delay on Wednesday, the 1A-2 North Conference Tournaments got underway Thursday at Izard County High School in Brockwell.
In the opening round on the baseball bracket, Norfork shut out the host Cougars 15-0, and Calico Rock was eliminated by Hillcrest 2-1 in nine innings. In the semifinals, the Panthers fell to Viola 14-4, and Mammoth Spring defeated the Screamin’ Eagles 9-1.
On the softball side, Norfork squeaked by Hillcrest 5-4 in the first round, and Mammoth Spring was bounced by Izard County 10-0. The semifinals soon followed as the Lady Panthers lost to Calico Rock 10-0, and Viola edged out the host Lady Cougars 4-3 in eight innings.
