In an update of how County personnel and departments are dealing with flooding across the Twin Lakes Area, Baxter County Judge Mickey Pendergrass says the county has been working to address areas of immediate concern. A verbal declaration was made Sunday with the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management placing the area in a state of emergency.

Pendergrass says he’s thankful Norfork Lake crested before it reached it’s top flood pool.

Pendergrass urges drivers to exercise caution on area roads as the ground is saturated with water and too soft to make repairs until they dry out.

Some evacuated areas of the County are safe to return.

Again, Pendergrass says to avoid soft spots and swollen bodies of water.

He has his first meeting, since the flood, with the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management and FEMA representatives Monday afternoon.
