McDaniel enters not guilty plea

    Chad McDaniel of rural Mountain Home who stands accused of threatening to kill family members with a gun, entered a not guilty plea to charges stemming from the incident during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.
The 25-year-old McDaniel’s arrest was made earlier last week after Baxter County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were called to a residence along Highway 62 east of Mountain Home in response to a report that a man brandishing a firearm had made threats to kill family members.
When deputies arrived in the area, they encountered one of the victims running down the road toward them. The victim said that McDaniel was armed with a pistol.
Deputies were able to locate and bring two small children at the residence to safety.
A search for McDaniel was launched on the property and he was found behind a shed at the rear of the residence and arrested. According to information from the Sheriff’s Office, deputies found a loaded pistol that had been defaced.
McDaniel is charged with terroristic threatening, third degree battery, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing a defaced firearm. His bond is set at $20,000 and he was ordered to reappear in Circuit Court May 4th.
