Flooding threatens U.S. highways in Northeast AR, impact continues locally

The rising flood waters in Northeast Arkansas are also threatening U.S. highways in at least three locations. Late Wednesday morning information on the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department Website indicates three closures on U.S. highways due to high water, U.S. Highway 412 in Lawrence County and U.S. Highway 67 in Randolph and Clay Counties.

State Highway 201, at Twin Bridges in Baxter County, remains listed as closed, categorized as for “maintenance.”

Information from the Baxter County Judge’s Office indicates Denton Ferry Road, Baxter County Road 1, bridge at High Tower Creek is open for single lane local traffic only. Motorists are asked to drive slow and proceed with caution.
