Due to flooding as a result of heavy rain falling in Northern Arkansas and Southern Missouri over the past several days, the U.S. Postal Service will provide limited mail delivery service until further notice to some Arkansas residents affected by severe weather issues. Mail delivery to flooded areas will be attempted to as many homes as possible until flooding recedes and normal delivery service can be resumed. Customers may pick up mail at local delivery post offices.“We regret any inconvenience to our customers,” said Mike Hart, District Manager for the USPS Arkansas District. “We understand and appreciate our customers’ need to have their mail and we will be implementing several temporary solutions to help meet our customers’ needs until things return to normal.” In the few locations where roads are impassable or unsafe for travel due to flooding, mail delivery services may be temporarily curtailed until normal conditions are restored.

Customers who are unable to receive mail delivery may pick up their mail at their local delivery Post Office; however, one Arkansas Post Office has been temporarily closed due to flooding. The Success Post Office, located at 511 Front St., Success, AR 72470, is currently inaccessible due to local flooding in the area. The Post Office remains closed and until services can be restored customers will be served through the nearby Corning Post Office, 700 Bobcat Ln., Corning, AR, 72422.

For those areas hardest hit by flooding, where homes were completely destroyed, affected postal customers can pick up their mail at their local delivery Post Office until other arrangements can be made. These customers are reminded to submit a temporary or permanent Change of Address as soon as they have moved from temporary shelters and secured a temporary or permanent place to live. It is important for these customers to check in with their local Post Office as soon as possible to advise of their status.

Customers can call the Postal Service’s toll-free number 800-ASK-USPS (800-275-8777) or the TTY number 877-TTY-2HLP (877-889-2457) with any postal questions they may have. USPS Service Alerts provide information to consumers, small businesses and business mailers about postal facility service disruptions due to weather-related and other natural disasters or events. Service alerts are done in near real time. Residential customers and small businesses can use this website to learn if mail is being delivered, or if their Post Offices are open. Business mailers are provided more detailed information about USPS mail processing facilities, and the operating status of postal delivery units. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
