Friday’s regional tournament results

Regional tournaments began Friday throughout Arkansas, and some local teams saw action.

Norfork’s baseball team watched their season come to an end at the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament in Armorel. The Panthers fell to Bay 10-0.
Mammoth Spring was able to clinch a state tournament berth. The Bears routed Ridgefield Christian 12-2.

Bruno-Pyatt was one and done in the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. The Patriots lost to Alpena 22-0.
Lead Hill will be the Leopards’ next opponent in the semifinals. The Tigers shut out Deer 34-0.
The day began with Omaha securing a state tournament bid. The Eagles beat up on Jasper 14-4.

Salem was eliminated from the Class 2A North Regional Tournament at Palestine-Wheatley High School. The Greyhounds fell to McCrory 12-2.

In softball, Cotter was unable to continue its season in the Class 2A North Regional Tournament at Palestine-Wheatley. The Lady Warriors were eliminated by Hazen 10-0.
Salem managed to punch its ticket to the state tournament. The Lady Greyhounds edged out Carlisle 3-2.

Norfork’s year ended in the opening round of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament at Armorel. The Lady Panthers fell to the host Lady Tigers 7-2.
Viola will be Armorel’s next opponent in the tournament. The Lady Longhorns beat up on Rector 12-2.
Calico Rock secured a state tournament berth without taking the field. The Lady Pirates advanced to the regional semifinals after Maynard forfeited.
Calico Rock will next face Izard County who destroyed Bay 17-6. Laney Rider picked up the win as she pitched a complete game, struck out six batters and gave up eight hits. Kennedy Cooper led the Lady Cougar offense with a two-run home run and three RBIs, and Natalie Everett added three hits.

Bruno-Pyatt was bounced from the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament in Harrison. The Lady Patriots fell to Omaha 19-9.
Rural Special was able to clinch a state tournament bid. The Lady Rebels toppled Jasper 22-5.
Lead Hill was one and done in the tournament. The Lady Tigers lost to Decatur 9-5.
