Thursday schedule includes MH softball team beginning state tourney

Baseball, softball and soccer makes up the local Thursday schedule.

The Mountain Home High School softball team will be in Benton as the Class 6A State Tournament gets underway. The Lady Bombers will be paired with Lake Hamilton in the opening round.
Mountain Home comes into the tournament as the number five seed in the East. The Lady Bombers are 6-14 on the season after they finished the 6A-East Conference Tournament Saturday with a 13-7 victory at Pine Bluff. Lake Hamilton is the fourth-seeded team out of the West. The Lady Wolves’ record stands at 15-15 according to MaxPreps.
The first pitch is scheduled for three p.m.

In other high school softball, the Class 1A State Tournament continues at Pine Bluff Regional Park. On Field 4, Izard County meets Concord at 12:30, and Calico Rock faces South Side-Bee Branch at 3:00. Omaha takes on Taylor on Field 1 at 5:30.
Salem will be in Lepanto to begin the Class 2A State Tournament at East Poinsett County High School. The Lady Greyhounds will play Pangburn at 3:00.
Melbourne travels to Harrison to compete in the Class 3A State Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex. The Lady Bearkatz will be matched up with Bald Knob at 3:00 on Cavender’s Field.

In baseall, the second round of the Class 1A State Tournament will be played in two locations. Lead Hill meets Mount Vernon-Enola at 10:00 on Taylor Field in Pine Bluff. At Woodlawn High School in Rison, Viola faces Concord at 12:30, and Omaha takes on Dierks at 5:30.
Harrison will be in Jacksonville for its opener in the Class 5A State Tournament. The Goblins play Greene County Tech at 10:00 at Dupree Park.

Both of Harrison’s soccer teams will play their openers in the Class 5A State Tournament at Nettleton High School in Jonesboro. The Lady Goblins meet the Lady Raiders at 2:00, and the Harrison boys will be paired with Greene County Tech at 4:00.
