A section of the Buffalo National River reached its flood stage on Friday, but it has since crested, and water levels have dropped below the flood stage. A spokesperson for the National Park Services says the river near Ponca hit its flood level of 6.2 feet Friday afternoon. The rain has since let up allowing the water levels to decrease. The spokesperson says paddling continues to be discouraged until the river drops to a safer level.
