MH boys advance to state soccer finals on penalty kick shootout

The Mountain Home High School boys’ soccer team punched its ticket to Fayetteville next weekend. After remaining tied 1-1 through double overtime, the Bombers took the penalty kick shootout 4-2 to beat Russellville in the semifinals of the Class 6A State Tournament Saturday in Siloam Springs. Mountain Home will head to the state championship match with a record of 18-0, and they’ll meet Siloam Springs at Razorback Field on the campus of the University of Arkansas.

Harrison’s girls will also play for a state championship next weekend in Fayetteville after playing in the semifinals of the Class 5A State Tournament at Valley View High School in Jonesboro. The Lady Goblins scored on a corner kick in double overtime to eliminate the host Lady Blazers 1-0. Harrison’s opponent in the state finals will be Maumelle.
