The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is announcing the opening of spillway gates at Bull Shoals Dam but not because of floodwaters. The gates will open at noon Monday and are projected to remain open for the remainder of the week.

Corps Deputy Operations Manager Mark Case says the main reason for the gates to open is three of the dam’s turbine generators are currently out of commission.
