Overnight storm damages structures and trees

Storms moved through the Twin Lakes area overnight leaving some downed trees inside the Mountain Home city limits and including significant damage to a vacant mobile home.

Jim Sierzchula, Baxter County Office of Emergency Management Director, says the first call to the 9-1-1 center regarding damage came in at 1:37 this morning.

Frank Macnak who resides at 713 East 9th Street says a portion of a roof from Dick Gonce Nurseries at 703 East 9th Street was blown off and landed at the Macnak home. He also advised a couple of metal filing cabinets sitting outside his home containing tools were blown over.

Mountain Home Police Department dispatch advises street department employees were busy this morning with cleanup in the area of 9th Street, Waverly and Kathleen, as further assessment continued throughout Mountain Home.

Waverly Street was reported about 80 percent blocked early this morning as street department employees worked to clear it.

No injuries have been reported from the storm.

Sierzchula says it will be up to the National Weather Service to determine what type of designation will be given to the overnight storm.
