The Be Pro, Be Proud mobile workforce simulator, an initiative to fill thousands of open jobs across the state, will roll into Mountain Home Monday and remain through Tuesday.

The simulator will be stationed in the large parking at the Mountain Home Junior High School. Students will have access to the equipment from 8 until 3 each day, with the community invited to view it each afternoon from 3 until 5.

Leah Cotter, federal programs coordinator with Mountain Home Public Schools, says the simulator is being brought here to create an awareness not just of current positions but projected future job openings.

Govenor Asa Hutchinson unveiled the Be Pro, Be Proud initiave in early 2016 as a partnership among Walmart, the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce, Delta Regional Authority, and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. At the time, the Governor said he hoped the initiative would not only create more interest in technical careers, but open doors to more training in those jobs.

Since April 2016, the training truck has been traveling to schools and festivals across Arkansas.

Cotter says efforts have been underway since spring of 2016 to bring the Be Pro, Be Proud simulator to Mountain Home.
