Spending in Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home has increased, as reflected in the May sales tax numbers recently released by the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration.
In Baxter County, the numbers released for May, which reflect sales tax collected in March, show an increase compared to last March. Tax numbers are still up for the year, according to Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize.

Mountain Home City Treasurer Deborah Cotter says the city also saw an increase in sales tax revenue for the month over last March and an increase of approximately 3.2 percent for the first five months of 2017.

The county sales tax is divided among the county and the eight municipalities, with Mountain Home leading the way with $171,734, Gassville collecting $28,668, while Cotter picked up $13,382. Lakeview took in $10,223, Norfork received $7,050, Salesville collected $6,208, the City of Briarcliff netted $3,256 and Big Flat received $1,435.
