Former Mountain Home High School and FIRST Robotics student Corey Boelkens and his company RaftUp Technologies has launched a new web safety technology called EyeRescue. The new technology is made exclusively for 911 and public safety agencies in their effort to meet next generation 911 needs. Boelkens calls it the OnStar for outdoor recreation. The technology allows users of the freely available RaftUp App the ability to use a “Social SOS” feature to notify and share their location with nearby users, friends, family, first responders, and now the Baxter County 911 Dispatch Center. Additionally, Boelkens says, RaftUp App users can feel safer knowing where responders are in relation to their position after using the SOS feature.

Boelkens says he’s been around boating from a young age, having his first job at Bull Shoal Lake Boat Dock when he was 14. The challenges he encountered working around boats were the beginning of his inspiration for developing the program.

The RaftUp EyeRescue technology enables 911 dispatchers and public safety agencies the ability to view a live map of Baxter County, receive an audible notification that includes information about the incident, user profile, mobile contact number and number of people involved. It then begins tracking a victim’s location with all of the emergency information shared in real time.

It enables 911 dispatchers or mobile command units to know where any agency emergency responder is who may be operating the RaftUp App in relation to any incident and allows for immediate orchestration of resources.

Additionally, the RaftUp EyeRescue platform provides the ability for communicating with victims via text messaging as well as the ability to send mobile push notifications out for various
public service announcements in their monitored area, such as weather alerts, area accidents, or other relevant news.

The app also can be used as a tool to specifically identify the location of friends and family spending time on the lake.

The RaftUp mobile app and its corresponding EyeRescue Web Platform will be live this summer for residents and tourists visiting Baxter County area lakes and rivers. RaftUp is currently looking to grow its safety network across the state of Arkansas.

Baxter County Judge Mickey Pendergrass says when he learned about RaftUp, he knew it would benefit rural response times in a way first responders could help to keep outdoor recreationalists and boaters safe on the water. He says everyone takes their phones with them everywhere now. There is no reason for someone to be stranded for hours outdoors or on the
water waiting for help.
