The Baxter and Marion County Farm Service Agency has been approved to hold a sign-up for the Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) for damage that occurred from recent flooding. The flooding has caused severe damage in both counties.

Farms and ranches suffering damage may be eligible for assistance if the damage is so costly to rehabilitate that Federal assistance is or will be needed to return the land to productive agriculture use. If the productive capacity of the land is affected, impaired or endangered and if the damage is unusual and not the type of damage that recurs frequently in the same area, farmers and ranchers may be eligible.

A producer qualifying for ECP assistance may receive cost-share of up to 75% of the eligible cost of restoration. No producer is eligible for more than $200,000 cost sharing per disaster occurrence. The minimum qualifying cost for restoration is $1000.00.

Assistance may be eligible for removing debris from farmland, restoring permanent fences, grading, shaping and releveling as well as other similar measures.

Producers who have suffered a loss from the recent disaster may contact the local FSA Office and request assistance from May 30, through June 28th of 2017. The phone number is 870-425-2250.

To be eligible for assistance, practices must not be started until an application for cost-share assistance has been filed, the local FSA County Committee or its representative has conducted an on site inspection and the agency, responsible for technical assistance, has made a needs determination.
