The Friends of the Baxter County Library recently announced the recipients of their 2017-2018 scholarships. Cara Conner, a Mountain Home High School student, will be receiving a $1,400 scholarship. Conner will be attending the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville this fall. Morgan Jenkins, a Mountain Home High School student, will be receiving a $800 scholarship. Jenkins will be attending the University of Central Arkansas in Conway in the fall. Samantha Bradshaw, a student at Norfork High School, will receive a $400 scholarship. Bradshaw will be attending Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia.
The scholarship was open to Baxter County residents who were a graduating senior from public high school, had a grade point average of 2.5 or higher, and were accepted by an accredited school of higher education. The applicants had to also write an essay on how reading aloud to a child impacts early childhood development and learning.
