Female forced to drive car at gunpoint

A 26-year-old Yellville woman, Courtney Rovinsky, has been arrested following an incident in which she is alleged to have forced a second woman to drive a vehicle at gunpoint until it overheated on a Marion County road.

According to a news release from Marion County Sheriff Clinton Evans, the incident occurred on Thursday morning at 5:31. County deputies responded to the area of Marion County 6001 to a suspicious activity possibly involving a firearm. Deputies made contact with a white sedan and spoke with the two female occupants. Deputies then discovered a small child in a car seat in the back of the vehicle. After further investigation, it was discovered that a female was forced to drive the car at gunpoint until it overheated. A 9 mm pistol was located in Rovinsky’s belongings, along with a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The child was unharmed and released into the custody of the Department of Human Services.

Rovinsky has been charged with terroristic threatening, endangering the welfare of a minor, both felony counts, along with two misdemeanor offenses.

She was being held on a $25,000 cash bond at the Marion County Jail Facility, awaiting her first court appearance.
