Bull Shoals-White River State Park to host kayaking class

The Bull Shoals-White River State Park will host an Introduction to Kayaking Course Saturday, June 24th, from ten to four. Participants will be able to learn about kayak safety, gear, laws, numerous stroke techniques, a wet exit and rescue. This course will involve one to two hours on dry land and three to four hours on the water.Participants will meet at the James A. Gastons Visitor Center on Saturday. This event will cost $35 and has limited space so registration is required. Register at the James A. Gastons Visitor Center or by calling (870) 445-3629. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign for them.

Participants need to wear clothes they are comfortable getting wet and bring a water bottle or drink, snacks and lunch for the session. Participants are advised to dress for the weather because the event will not be cancelled due to inclement weather. However, in the event of severe weather with lightning, guests will be refunded.

All of the gear will be provided. Participants can bring their own kayak paddle and vest provided they notify workers at the time of registration. The fee is still $35 for participants who bring their own gear.
