Several break-ins and vandalism to Mountain Home area businesses occurred over the weekend, following a series of break-ins beginning in April. Reports were taken by the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday and Sunday dealing with tampering with screens, windows being shot out with an air rifle and theft of money. Mountain Home Police Chief Carry Manual says in some cases access was gained by forced entry and advises businesses to make sure their structures are as secure as possible and report any unusual activity.

On Saturday officers were dispatched to the Church of Christ on Highway 5 South in regard to a damaged window screen. Initial reports say the screen was removed and the window was tampered with. Nothing was reported missing, however a couple of bicycles were found on the scene.

On Sunday Mountain Home Police were dispatched to an alarm at Mobilized on Buzzard Roost Cutoff. When officers arrived the discovered the window had been shot out with some type of an air rifle and a bank bag on the floor. Some rolled coins were taken and a roll of pennies was found just outside the
front door.

While officers were on scene a liquor store window was shot out, shattering the window. Officers learned the night before a tobacco store was broken into and the AT&T store had its window shot out.
Video surveillance at the tobacco store lead investigators to believe a dark colored SUV may be involved.

Four other commercial burglaries and theft of property have been reported from April 5th through May 19th. On April 5th E-C Engineering and Manufacturing, located at 719 Highway 5 North, reported a break in. Other reports came from Satin and Lace, at 608 South Church Street, on April 7th; from Kimmer Properties’ storage unit, at 234 North Church Street, on May 16th; and Jackson Rentals and Supplies, at 100 East 3rd Street, on May 19th.

Items collectively taken during those burglaries include money, computer equipment and supplies, a microwave, stereo, flute, bed, and blankets.
