Delta Regional Authority and the U.S. Department of Defense have collaborated on the mission that has brought medical reservists from the Air Force, Army and Navy to Mountain Home, Yellville and Marshall to provide the health and wellness services. The mission follows a meeting among county judges and Delta Regional Authority representatives and an application from the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District in Harrison.

Lindberg says the turnout has been strong at all three locations, with participants having two specific healthcare needs.

Major Nathan Devoe, an Army reservist with the Third Medical Command in Georgia, says the mission has been two years in the making and has brought reservists and support personnel from up and down the East Coast and Puerto Rico to the Ozarks.

All total, nearly 200 volunteers are involved in the mission, with reservists from the three branches of the military onsite and a contingency working behind the scenes in other locations including an equipment warehouse in New Jersey.

Major Devoe says while the medical services are being offered at no cost at the three clinics, there is an expense.

Major Devoe says the training is an opportunity for the service members to see how similar people are no matter where they live as they give back in a tangible way. He says it is hoped through the mission that they will be educated while changing lives for future generations.

The Innovative Reading Training clinics continue through Monday. Hours Saturday are from 8-4, Sunday noon to 5, and Monday 8-4. Services will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Locations are the Mountain Home Junior High School and the Yellville-Summit Middle School and Marshall High School.

No proof of income, insurance or residency is required to receive the medical care.
