2 area residents at Miss Arkansas events

Activities for the annual Miss Arkansas Pageant are underway as contestants arrived in Little Rock Saturday, and according to the Harrison Daily Times, two area residents will be among the participants. Zoe Cimino of Mountain Home will compete in the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen event this week, and Ebony Mitchell of Harrison will take part in the Miss Arkansas Pageant.

Cimino comes into the event as Miss North Central Arkansas’s Outstanding Teen. Her platform is “The Power of Music: On a Positive Note.”

Mitchell is a graduate of Harrison High School and is currently a junior at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway with a major in business marketing. She will perform a tap dance in the talent competition to “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.” Her platform is “S.A.F.E. Connections.”

The preliminaries of both competitions will be Tuesday through Thursday at the Robinson Auditorium. The Outstanding Teen Finals are scheduled for Friday eveninig. The Miss Arkansas Finals will be Saturday evening and can be seen on Little Rock television station KATV, and the winner will advance to the Miss America Pageant.

The reigninig Miss Arkansas is Savannah Skidmore of Calico Rock. Skidmore finished as the runner-up in last year’s pageant, but she was awarded the crown after Savvy Shields was named Miss America.
