“I got married recently…” Sam confirmed at Friday night’s CMA Fest in Nashville. “I’ve never been a very good planner. Getting married’s kind of like putting out songs. When you’re ready to go, you want to go tomorrow. So this spring wasn’t necessarily the best time for me to get married with all that I’ve got going on, but I wanted to go ahead and do that immediately.”

Sam admits his life is rapidly changing since tying the knot with Hannah Lee Fowler in an ultra-private ceremony in his hometown of Cedartown, Georgia.

“I’ve been juggling things like moving into a new house and just getting life reorganized within my new position as a spouse,” he revealed.

For that reason, Sam tried to keep his CMA Fest 2017 decidedly low-key.

“I went to CMT Awards, had a good time,” he said before taking the main stage Friday night at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium. “We just kinda turned that into a date night, ’cause I wasn’t even playing that night. I just wanted to go hang out.”

“That’s really been the only thing that I’ve done,” Sam went on. “We’ve rode around a little bit… just to soak in the energy of these few blocks with all the music going on and all the fans walking around. But I haven’t had much going on other than that…”

Next Thursday night, Sam resumes his 15 in a 30 Trek with Maren Morris and Chris Janson in Toronto, Canada.
