3 area graduates receive National Merit Scholarships

Three recent local high school graduates were among 54 members of Arkansas’s Class of 2017 to be named winners of National Merit Scholarships. Over 3,200 scholarships were awarded nationwide to be financed by 182 colleges and universities.

Mountain Home graduates Anna Fisher and Christopher Nosari II were awarded the National Merit Scholarship. Both will attend the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville majoring in mechanical engineering.

The other area scholarship went to Salem High School graduate Jett McCullough. McCullough will also attend the University of Arkansas, and he plans to major in business.

The award provide between $500 and $2,000 per year for up to four years of study at a college or university financing the scholarship.
