Olson says while property owners don’t want to see an increase in their taxes, they also don’t want their property to lose its value. She said the re-appraisal process points to a good market in Baxter County, which isn’t the case across Arkansas.

By comparison, Olson says in last year’s review in Boone County property values increased about one and a half percent. She also notes in the last review in Fulton County, values were slightly down.

Comparing Baxter County to the country as a whole since the recent recession, Olson says this area’s property values held fairly steady throughout the downturn. She says what this area did experience was a decrease in the number of sales versus a decrease in the amount of the sales.

Olson says Baxter County has a good market citing contributing factors of tourism and the amount of commercial properties. She concludes by saying it’s good to live here.
