The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced that anyone may come to any of the Corps Parks at Norfork Lake for free driftwood. The free wood is along the shoreline and boat ramps. Corps Deputy Operations Manager Mark Case says the Corps normally has rules and regulations on picking up driftwood off the lake shores, but the issues they’ve had with the flooding has forced them to temporarily change that. Generally the rule of thumb is one truck load for free or an individual may purchase a mile of shore line for $10.

Case says the flood that came through West Plains down the North Fork River was the highest it’s been since the Corps began keeping records.
