Highway bids approved for area projects

Bids for improvements to roadways in three counties in North Central Arkansas have been approved by the Arkansas State Highway Commission.

In Marion County, Dilbeck Excavation of Mountain Home has been awarded a contract for over $170,000 to resurface three-tenths of a mile of Fourth Street in Yellville.

In Izard County, Atlas Asphalt of Batesville has been awarded a contract of just over $2.5 million to resurface 6.5 miles of State Highway 5 between the Stone and Baxter county lines.

In Newton County, White River Materials of Batesville has been awarded a contract for over $230,000 to reseal just under two miles of sections of County Road 51 near Yardell and just over a half mile of County Road 85 near Vendor.

Construction on all three contracts is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in mid-2017.
