Keith Richards pays tribute to “remarkable” Anita Pallenberg

Hulton-Deutsch Collection/CORBIS/Corbis via Getty ImagesRolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has shared a brief but touching tribute to his former romantic partner, Italian-German actress and model Anita Pallenberg, who died Tuesday at the age of 73.

On his Twitter feed, Richards posted a vintage black-and-white pic of Pallenberg taken by photographer Michael Cooper along with the message, “A most remarkable woman. Always in my heart.”

Richards and Pallenberg were a couple from 1967 to 1980, and had three children together: a son Marlon, born in 1969; a daughter Angela, born in 1972; and a son Tara, who died at the age 10 weeks in 1976.

Meanwhile, Mick Jagger‘s former girlfriend, singer Marianne Faithfull, has posted on her own online tribute to Pallenberg, with whom she became friends during the 1960s.

Faithfull’s homage begins with a poem by W.B. Yeats that includes the passage, “I have spread my dreams under your feet, Tread softly for you tread upon my dreams.”

Marianne then writes, “Anita used to say that we (the two of us) are light years ahead of the Rolling Stones. Witty and probably true!…I will miss Anita so much; 52 years! I really loved her.”

She continues, “We had good times & bad times, but I only remember the good times now. She taught me so much, especially after we got clean; it was very good, and so much fun! Farewell my love, go well.”
