Ordinances amending the schedule of rates to be charged and collected for water and sewer system users will be placed on the third and final readings when the Mountain Home City Council meets Thursday evening at 6 in the council chambers of the municipal building.

Under the proposals, the water rates would increase 14 cents on the first 2,000 gallons and the sewer rates would rise 33 cents. Mayor Joe Dillard says the rates haven’t been raised since 2009. A study was done by Garver Engineers recommending an even higher rate by 20 percent. The proposed increase on the table is two percent. The council did not act to approve the measures at its last meeting in order to allow time for public feedback.

There are two items of new business on the agenda, a request to approve auction items and a second request to transfer $17,000 from the sports facility budget line item to the supplies and maintenance for the pool line item.
