Toto announces plans for 40th anniversary tour, hits compilation in 2018

Credit: Heather PorcaroNext year marks the 40th anniversary of the release of Toto‘s self-titled debut album, and in celebration of the milestone the band will embark on a worldwide trek, dubbed the 40 Trips Around the Sun Tour. The commemorative tour will begin with a European leg that currently is mapped out from a February 19 in Hamburg, Germany, through an April 8 show in Glasgow, U.K.

Also as part of the 40th anniversary festivities, Toto has prepared a greatest-hits compilation due out in 2018 that will feature a mix of newly remastered versions of the band’s classic songs and new, previously unreleased tracks. The new material was recorded during the past year by Toto’s core members — guitarist Steve Lukather, keyboardists David Paich and Steve Porcaro, and lead singer Joseph Williams.

“Myself, David, Steve and Joseph are humbled and thrilled at the long lasting success of the band,” says Lukather in a statement. “This 40th anniversary tour is going to be a special one for us and all of the fans that come out.” He adds, “We’ve spent a lot of time this year working on new music and re-mastering the older tracks.”

The group also has a number of other special projects tied in with the anniversary that will be announced at a later date.

Toto’s currently on tour in the U.S. through a July 1 concert in Salina, Kansas. The band then will head to Europe for a series of shows plotted out from early July to mid-August, and will follow that with more stateside performances in late August and September.
