Credit: Nels IsraelsonJackson Browne is known for headlining benefit concerts for causes he supports, and the Rock & Roll Hall-of-Famer has now signed on to play an August 13 show in Chicago that’ll raise funds for Veterans for Peace. The performance will take place at the Copernicus Center during the last day of the organization’s 32nd annual convention.
Browne will be accompanied at the concert by multi-instrumentalist Greg Leisz, a longtime member of his touring band. All net proceeds from the gig will be donated to Veterans for Peace, a global organization made up of military vets and other citizens that seeks to educate people about the negative costs of warfare, provides support for veterans and victims of war, and works toward eliminating war.
“I want to add my voice to those of Veterans for Peace in calling for the dismantling our war for profit economy, and working to end all wars,” says Browne, who’s a member of the organization’s advisory board. “We need to follow VFP’s courageous and principled example in calling for an end to our country’s insane and inhumane military expansion.”

Browne currently is playing a series of shows in Ireland and the U.K. He also has a handful of other U.S. gigs lined up, including a July 15 concert in Columbia, Maryland; an appearance at the KAABOO Festival in Del Mar, California, in mid-September; and previously reported headlining performances at the three confirmed 2017 Laid Back Festival stops in late September.
