Kickin Kountry is this week’s headliner for the sixth series of Mountain Home’s Friday Night Block Party on the Square. The show is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 Friday evening. Holy Smokes will be serving barbecue. The Baxter Historical Society will be selling Ice Cream Sundaes. Funnel cakes and lemonade will be available as well.

According to Event Coordinator Ron Shire, Kickin Kountry are a Honky Tonk dance band and play a little bit of everything. They have opened for Asleep at the Wheel, Bellamy Brothers and Dan Seals to name a few. They also do some original music. Kickin Kountry has been around for close to 20 years in one form or fashion with several different members, with one constant, Duane Hoppis on lead Guitar and vocals.

Other members include Russell Joyner on rhythm guitar and vocals, Ronda on drums and vocals, J.R. Massengale on bass guitar and Gary Van Meter on steel guitar.

The Friday Night Block Party will go through the second Friday of September. The family friendly event will have vendors, food, crafts and prizes.

There will not be a Friday Night Block Party next Friday due to the Red, White and Blue Festival at ASU Mountain Home.
