Day two of the 18th annual Red White and Blue Festival on Friday brings a host of activities including a parade, rodeo and performances by three bands.

The events begin with the no charge kids zone featuring face painting, balloons, patriotic beads, Baxter County DARE trailer and drunk goggles, large water slide, bounce houses, crazy can knock down, basketball shootout, pony rides, and more. The kids zone will be open from 4 until 9 on the campus of Arkansas State University Mountain Home.

Jewels for You tickets will also be available in the information booth and at the road from 4 until 9. All proceeds from the Jewels for You Hearts on Fire pendant valued at $3,650 go to support the Red White and Blue Festival. Tickets are also available at area banks, Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce, and Carter’s Jewel Chest. Prices range from $1 per individual ticket, to six tickets for $5 and 12 tickets for $10.

The fun continues at 5:30 with the Let Freedom Ring parade through downtown Mountain Home, with Miss Arkansas as the grand marshal. Questions about the parade may be directed to Tracy Jones at the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce, 870-425-5111.

After the parade, there’s plenty of music on the ASUMH campus beginning at 6 with the Mason Squared Band, followed by the Lance Stephenson Bakersford Band at 7, and the Straight Line Band at 8:15.

Friday’s schedule also includes turtle races at 7:30.

The first of two nights of rodeo action begins at 8 at the Mountain Home Saddle Club Arena, next door to all other activities on the ASUMH campus. The rodeo features the Chicks-n-Spurs drill team, along with bareback riding, team roping, barrel racing, and steer wrestling.

The festival continues on Saturday with a full slate of activities, culminating with what organizers are describing as the “biggest fireworks display in the state of Arkansas.” While the fireworks may be seen from almost anywhere in Mountain Home, the best view will be from the grounds at ASU Mountain Home. The fireworks are set to begin at 9:30 Saturday evening.
