The Gainesville R-5 School District is set to have a new leader on July 1 after offering a contract to Dr. Jeffrey Hyatt.

Information from the Gainesville School District indicates Hyatt currently holds the position of superintendent of schools at Sparta, Missouri, a position he has held for 14 years.

In addition to being a superintendent, Hyatt brings experience as an administrator, teacher and coach.

The board offered a two-year contract to Hyatt after Dr. Aaron Hosman of Mountain Home, who was hired in April, opted instead to remain in the Harrison School District as assistant superintendent. Hosman had been serving as interim superintendent at Harrison.

Hosman was scheduled to replace current Gainesville Superintendent Joe Donley who resigned in February after the school board voted not to extend his contract.
