Oklahoma man killed in Boone County 2-vehicle crash

A two-vehicle crash Friday in Boone County claimed the life of an Oklahoma man. The Arkansas State Police reports 61-year-old Douglas Wilkes of Henryetta was pronounced dead at the scene near the state line.

According to Trooper Paul Hutcheson, Wilkes’ vehicle was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 65. Another vehicle was attempting to turn left from the southbound lane on to Arkansas Highway 14 and pulled into Wilkes’ path. Wilkes’ passenger, 61-year-old Charla Wilkes of Henryetta, was injured and transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield where she is currently listed as a patient.

Douglas Wilkes’ body is being held at the Boone County Morgue.
