Rhino RecordsRhino Records is celebrating the 50th anniversary of legendary band The Doors with multiple versions of a new compilation, The Doors: The Singles.
Due September 15, the project brings together all the singles and B-sides released from the six studio albums The Doors recorded between 1967’s self-titled debut and 1971’s L.A. Woman.
The collection will be available in three formats:
–a two-CD package featuring all 20 singles and their corresponding B-sides, plus four mono versions sent to radio.
–a two-CD set plus the 1973 compilation The Best of the Doors released in Quadraphonic sound on Blu-ray disc for the first time.
-a limited-edition box set of all 20 singles on seven-inch, 45 rpm vinyl with the original sleeve art and labels.
All the audio will also be available for digital download and through various streaming services.
Many of the B-sides in The Doors: The Singles will be making their CD debut. They include a cover of blues legend Willie Dixon’s “(You Need Meat) Don’t Go No Further,” originally the B-side of the band’s 1971 hit “Love Her Madly.”
The collection also features several tracks released after singer Jim Morrison’s death in 1971. Included in those are two songs the remaining trio of keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robbie Krieger and drummer John Densmore recorded on their own: “Tightrope Ride” and “The Mosquito.”
The Doors’ 50th anniversary celebration also includes a July 28 release of a limited edition, seven-inch vinyl reissue of their first number one hit, “Light My Fire,” featuring artwork from the Japanese version of the single.
