Tamara Thompson of Mountain Home was sentenced to six years probation and one year in a long-term addiction treatment program operated in one of the Community Correction Centers in the state during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

Thompson entered a guilty plea to drug-related charges against her in early May with sentencing set for Thursday.

The 25-year-old Thompson was first arrested during a traffic stop on a truck that was being sought by the Ozark County Missouri Sheriff’s office. Thompson was a passenger in the truck. Officers found a broken glass “smoking pipe” on the passenger side of the floorboard. Officers asked Thompson if there was anything illegal inside the truck, and she said there was a small plastic bag of marijuana inside her purse.

In her second arrest, Thompson and a male companion were picked up while apparently living in a unit at a Mountain Home mini-storage complex. According to court records, Thompson said they were in the unit since they had no where else to stay.

Officers found a black pouch on a blow-up mattress in the storage unit containing a used syringe. On the floor next to the bed was a gold case with a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine. Thompson is alleged to have admitted the drug was methamphetamine, that it all belonged to her and that her boyfriend had nothing to do with the drug.

The court gave Thompson, who is more than eight months pregnant, the opportunity to remain free until a bed opens in one of the state’s Community Correction Centers.
